The panicking has started. The snow monster is coming! Hide, run, buy everything at the grocery store! How will we survive a couple days of being stranded at home?!? WINTER is here…
You see, I live in a beach town. In what is considered the South. It doesn’t snow that much here. Most years nothing. Some years a couple of inches, and that shuts down schools and puts the tv networks in emergency mode. Well, it switches them to whatever emergency mode they were already in to a new more urgent weather emergency mode. For days there will be constant coverage and constant predictions leading to the usual reality. They were wrong. Most of the time when they are wrong, we end up with nothing. Or even worse, a cold miserable rain. Every once in a while when they are wrong, the spectacular happens. We will only get 1-3 inches. Maybe nothing. Flash to post storm and the 12 inches of fluffy terror covering everything.
The panicking has started, though. The snow monster is coming!

Or will it…
Ok, it probably will this time. And it will be terrible. Snowmen and snow angels and hot chocolate. Snowball fights and sledding. Games and movies and reading. Hanging at home with the family for the weekend. The drab, cold, dead suburbia of winter transformed into beauty and magic. Those gigantic icicles that always form over our porch. All the boots drying by the fire.
Everybody panic! It’s going to be horrible…
