Yesterday our daughter went to spend the weekend with her friend, which left us with a date day. A whole day and night just for ourselves. Since it was St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the one thing on the agenda was to go out to O’Connor Brewery for their big St Paddy’s party. Bands, green, food trucks, green, dark beer, and green beer. But first…
We made a stop at Starbucks and were treated with their new easter egg color spring cups! We got a green blue one to celebrate spring on a rainy, cold day.

Next it was off to the local tea shop to smell the green tea and the black tea and all the crazy stuff in between. After tasting some samples and getting our caffeine level high enough to handle the night, we picked out our choices to take home and were off to drink beer in green madness!
O’Connor was packed. Three food trucks, seven dark beers, the obligatory green beer, cupcakes made with beer, bands drinking and singing about beer. Green dyed beards, tall green hats, big green balls, long green stockings. It was St. Paddy’s Day alright – even though it was a day late.
We hung out for a while and had a good time. People watching is usually the best part of being stuck in a big crowd and that was certainly the case here, but the music was good and the beer flowing.
Speaking of music, while there we got the news of Chuck Berry dying. 90 years old – what a life. And to think, he may not have amounted to anything if Michael J Fox hadn’t gone Back to the Future! My favorite…
We finished our night with one last adventure. Ramen. There just are not many places in our area to get ramen. We’ve tried a few and were not really impressed, but hadn’t been to this one place that is actually a pop up night-time restaurant in a meat market in Ghent. It was really interesting and eclectic. There was a decent wait and this after getting there rather late for dinner. Mostly community seating, so we sat with others. There were not a lot of choices, but what we had was real good. A new favorite place?
Maybe so…
