Before my wife and I had our daughter, we used to have this tradition. Every Easter, if the weather was nice, we would drive out to the country and have a picnic at one of our favorite places, Munden Point Park. We’d enjoy the spring and the flowers and the breezes, and dream about starting a family and continuing traditions like this one with whoever came along.
Then one year, it happened.

A little one – and our first Easter picnic as a family.
Over the years we kept coming back when we could. We would bring the dog, fly kites, explore the park, play on the slides and swings, and even play some basketball. During the volleyball years, the volleyball would come along. During the Barbie years, Barbies would come along.

A couple times we even flew.

We went back this past Easter for our latest visit. It was a rare nice day in this spring of cold and rainy weather, so we got lucky. The kid is now 16 years old and didn’t want to fly this time, but we did try out the swings and do some exploring. Over the years we’ve taken these series of photos of her and my wife sitting on top of the slide and decided to add another one. Sob. It’s hard to believe how much our daughter has changed in what has seemed like a pretty short period of time.

It’s like they say, time really does fly…
