It was announce the other day that three actors from the show The Office will be making appearances at our local minor league baseball team this summer. Kevin! Creed! David Wallace!

Last year Stanley was here and we went out to see him. Well, stand in line, pay some money, say a quick hi, and get a picture, but he was nice and it was fun. And we got a picture with Stanley! My favorite part of the night was repeating my dad joke over and over again – “Boy, I can’t believe we got a picture with Stan Lee…” Yeah, I know. Epic. So, what could we say to Kevin? Will Creed try to kill us? Stay tuned…
This reminds me of my idea for an Office reboot. It’s called The Class and takes place in middle school. The teacher is this awkward guy named Michael who thinks he’s funny and cool, but everybody is making fun of him behind his back. There is a kind of plain girl named Pam in the class who is dating this guy who likes to work on cars, but really likes this other guy named Jim. Jim is sort of the class clown, but is also in the SCA and plays baseball. Jim is head over heals in love with Pam. There is a character named Dwight who is in the ROTC and is an Eagle Scout. He is also on the debate team. Jim and Dwight butt heads on a regular basis. There are a variety of other kids in the class, too, like the ditz Kelly, the bookworm loner, Angela, the slow, overweight guy, Kevin, the gay kid, Oscar, the class slut, Meredith, the dude who loves pretzel day at school, but would rather be anywhere else, Stanley, and so on. Every week, Michael would try to find some new way to teach the kids, but would fail miserably by accidentally saying racist stuff, or getting the facts wrong, or saying something inappropriate to the girls in class. The catch is he’d always think he was the best teacher in the school. He’d even have a coffee mug that said so. He would take them on field trips, have to deal with parents, and have run ins with his boss, Principal Jan. Boy, it would be a hoot. The Class. You heard it here first…
