My daughter has been on a roll lately, and here is my chance to give her some well earned kudos:
- First of all, she is finishing middle school this week with awesome grades. She will be just a little bit short of straight A’s with a B+ in algebra. And this while taking two high school level classes…
- She finished up her first year playing violin last month with the Bay Youth String Orchestra. She had to audition to get into this orchestra, played in three concerts during the year, and went to weekly rehearsals from September – May. It was quite the experience and will start up again in the fall.

- Earlier this month she got to play a duet recital with her violin teacher, who is in the Virginia Symphony – and it sounded like this:
- And then a few days later she won the 8th grade Leadership Award for her school orchestra! She just finished her second year as first chair violin and her teacher said she is the type of person the other students should strive to be like.

So it’s been an exciting month or so. But she’s not done yet. Tomorrow she has an audition for the High School Orchestra – to see what level she will play in. Wednesday she has volleyball playoffs and, finally, Friday is the last day of school. Middle school. We are so proud of her! She works really hard and it’s so much fun watching her reap the rewards of all that hard work. Now on to a fun summer…
