For the first time in what feels like forever, we don’t really have anything to do this weekend. No birthday celebrations, n0 orchestra performances, no ODU basketball games, concerts, visits from relatives, travel, or even shopping that we need to go out to do. So we decided to just stay in all weekend and watch movies. Last night we watched Sing Street with the kid. We had been telling her about it for the few weeks since we saw it and finally got the chance to watch it with her. She liked it and it was even better the second time. Tonight we are going to try to watch a double feature. First on the agenda is Good Will Hunting. We have been wanting to watch it with the kid for a long time. Ever since we saw Matt Damon and his family in New York City years ago at the Washington Square Park play ground and tried to explain to the kid who he was. Funny story. The kid was around 11 and was running around trying to get on swings and slide down slides on a break from touring around NYC. We noticed Matt Damon and his family and how the kid was running around with other kids, including his. When she came back to us we made the mistake of letting her in on the big news that there was a major movie star hanging out like 30 feet from us. She was like “who? where?” – and we said that guy over there with the gray sweatshirt and grey cap on. And she points right at him and says – “you mean him?” Omg. Quite funny. Anyway, at the time she had only seen him in We Bought a Zoo, but we have been bringing him up in other movies and trailers since and have always said – we’ve got to watch Good Will Hunting with you sometime. It’s so good. So, tonight is finally the night. We were kind of worried that she just wasn’t old enough to appreciate the movie before, but today she was telling us that she might be interested in pursuing psychology in college – so we thought – tonight is a good time. The second movie is one she picked out to go along with her horror theme of recent months. It’s called The Babadook. I have never heard of it, but it got a 98% on rotten tomatoes and is on netflix – so we’re game.
It’s Saturday, though, and newly announced in a family decree as Martini Night. So martinis have been made. I hope that doesn’t mean the double feature will fail due to a certain wife passing out at some point tonight.

Wish us luck…
